Distant Hope is born!
The idea of a new Source mod to end all mods, originally started off as an idea with me and sslice, just theoretically talking in IRC about what we would like to see in a MOD which don't exist in any other mod. Sure there are lots of great mods for the Source engine, but none that really changed the way that people view mods. People always go back to the retail games available on steam. We want to change this, by making Distant Hope much more of a community built mod, where we will seriously consider all ideas put forward to us from community members!
Distant Hope is still in very early design stage, and anyone with ideas, requests, or something that they have always wanted to see from a mod, should post a topic in our forums.
Also, we are looking for some motivated artists to help us realise this dream mod. If you think you are up for the challenge, and have experiance in;
- Conceptual Art
- Texture Art
- Moddeling
- Skinning
- Animation
Then click here (link to come soon) to submit your application to be part of the development team.
A little about the idea...
The idea behind this mod setting, is that its coming to the end of WWIII, and there is devistation all around. You must fight to keep your territory in the map. The mod will be set about 30-40 years into the future, so there will be some advances in weaponry, but nothing drastic like rocket propelled laser bombs (?!), but maybe some nice attatchements to weapons.
Thats all for now, when we draw up some more design information, we will let you know as soon as possible!
